KORDON KOANG SOUTH SUDAN (ANDRAS HOUSE REMIX)

Gordon Koang hails from the Upper Nile region of what is now South Sudan. Accompanied by his cousin Paul Biel, Gordon performs a blend of traditional Neur rhythms and original compositions in English, Arabic, and his native language, Neur. Koang explores his refugee identity on his first album Unity, recorded in Australia, where he's lived in asylum from his home country's civil war since 2014. Now Koang announces his forthcoming remix EP, partnering with two popular electronic musicians in his adopted home city of Melbourne, Australia - Sleep D and Andras. The EP's first single is 'South Sudan (Andras House Remix)', an invigorated house track, using samples and snippets of Koang's original vocal to create a rhythm of it's own, spliced with cracks of reverberated snare, and a driving bass drum. This remix is a zippy and refreshing, marrying the lightness of Koang's vocals with the ominous glow of house music. -Ellie Rose-Davies
